Fashion Police, First Edition

I’m starting a new reoccurring blog post.  It’s called, FASHION POLICE! — original, I know.  Today, while surfing the target.com shoe department, I saw something that inspired me to make this new topic. They are called Sun Luks, by Muk Luks, and they are U-G-L-Y.  Someone should take these shoes out to the back of the barn and PUT THEM DOWN.  They’re suffering really, suffering through their own hideousness (that might not be a word — but words escape me right now.)  What do you think of these thing?  Can you think of ANY WAY to style these so that they don’t assault the eyes?

Annnnnd I’m Back. Plus New Marc Jacobs!

So, It’s been a year since my last post.  I realize this.  I think I’m going to give it another go — this whole blogging thing, that is.  And I’d like to start things off with an amazing Ready to Wear Collection from Marc Jacobs.  Seriously — I can’t afford any of these things, but I can certainly try to cobble together a pattern and sew some of them.

The brown, two-piece outfit reminds me of a refashion from this blogger.  Maybe I can accomplish something like that, also, maybe I can just shoot for NOT taking year long breaks from blogging again :)  I’d count that a success.

T-Shirts for me.

I don’t wear many t-shirts.  In fact, my waredrobe is lacking in the “casual” department altogether.  I think it’s part of growing up and gettign a real job.  I don’t really have any place to wear casual clothing, except on the weekends, and lets face it that’s only 2 out of 7 days a week.  Most of the time I feel like t-shirts aren’t worth the cost when measured against the “will I actually wear this” yard stick.   But I after recently discarding [ie sending to the goodwill] a good many articles of clothing that I wasn’t into anymore/didn’t fit, I’ve found myself actually needing to purchase some t-shirts and weekend clothes.  I’ve been surfing around the net and found a few I like.

For the love of…

This time of year always brings out the patriot in me.   I love July 4th.  It could be my favorite holiday, though halloween would run a close second.  I like to “dress up” for the occassion and the obvious choice is RED, WHITE, & BLUE.  Above are a few things I’ve been thinking about wearing.  The UO dress has been on my mind for a few weeks now and I think I might have to attempt to refashion a thrifted dress that’s sort of a look alike.

Half a refashion.

3619935154_2991f19a9d_bThat’s right…just half.  I was going to wait until I had the entire outfit from this post refashioned, but I just couldn’t wait.  PLus I remembered I have this similar shirt that’d prob work with the skirt anyway.

I’ve been dying (haha?) to try some dying techniques.  I used some teal dye and a bleach bath to lighten it as I went.  It turned out a little lighter than I wanted but I’m happy with it.  Again, I’m stealing ideas from J. Crew.
